Yeshua HaMashiach came to serve and give us an example to follow. Yet the goats think they have to lead and lord it over others. This is completely contrary to scripture. Yeshua HaMashiach will return soon to lead since Elohim has lifted him up. The goats don’t understand this because they don’t have a spiritual mindset. They lift themselves up and thereby are disobedient to Elohim. Scripture tells us to humble ourselves and Elohim will lift us up. This is the example Messiah showed us.
Don’t lord it over those apportioned to you, but become examples to the flock.
1 Peter 5:3 TLV
Likewise attendants are to be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for filthy gain, holding to the secret of the belief with a clean conscience. And let these also be proved first, then let them serve, if they are unreprovable. Wives in the same way: reverent, not false accusers, sober, trustworthy in every way. Let attendants be the husbands of only one wife, ruling children and their own houses well.
1 Timothy 3:8-12 TS2009
Humble yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up. Do not speak evil against one another, brethren. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the Torah and judges the Torah. But if you judge the Torah, you are not a doer of the Torah, but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge—the One who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you who judges your neighbor?
James 4:10-12 TLV
Only Yeshua HaMashiach has the preeminence
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created—in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen, whether thrones or angelic powers or rulers or authorities. All was created through Him and for Him. He exists before everything, and in Him all holds together. He is the head of the body, His community. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead—so that He might come to have first place in all things.
Colossians 1:15-18 TLV
Taking the preeminence condemned in scripture
I wrote something to Messiah’s community, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, doesn’t welcome us. So if I do come, I will call attention to what he is doing—slandering us with wicked words. Not even content with that, he refuses to welcome the brethren, and even forbids those who want to do so—throwing them out of the community! Loved ones, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.
3 John 1:9-11 TLV
Characteristics of Diotrephes
In only two verses, we have the following statements made about Diotrephes: 1) he loves to be first; 2) he refuses to welcome the apostles into the church; 3) he maliciously spreads gossip about men of God; 4) he withholds hospitality from other believers; 5) he requires others to follow his poor example; and 6) he excommunicates anyone who crosses him.
A person like Diotrephes will throw anyone out he wants. When you show him the truth of scripture and he disagrees, he will throw you out or shun you. Or he will rebuke you saying you are deceived when you show him the truth of scripture. This is because people like Diotrephes are deceived themselves. They are not filled with the Holy Spirit and therefore are carnally minded.
It’s a shame there are still men like this and think they are actually called to the ministry when scripture shows they are not qualified. These men are narcissists, wolves in sheep’s clothing who not only deceive others, but deceive themselves as well. This is their character. Men like Diotrephes, Floyd Cady, Matthew Miller, Larry Pratt and Richard Piercey.
